MEDRANO + Anderson

For over two decades, Patrick Medrano and Katy Anderson have cultivated a deeply intertwined artistic practice rooted in Houston and extending beyond. What began as a personal and creative partnership between a painter/sculptor and a photographer has evolved into a distinct collaborative voice recognized as ANDERSON+MEDRANO. While each artist maintains an independent studio practice, it is their collaborative work that has become central to their evolution—merging disciplines to create singular, hybrid works that defy categorization. Their process is both intuitive and organic: each creates independently, allowing photography, painting, and constructed elements to emerge separately before converging through time, proximity, and instinct.

The resulting works exist as a visual dialogue—Anderson’s atmospheric black-and-white imagery grounding and softening Medrano’s gestural brushwork and sculptural interventions. Together, they construct layered compositions where tension and harmony coexist, and where light and shadow become active, emotional forces. At its core, ANDERSON+MEDRANO is an exploration of duality—individual versus collective, structure versus fluidity, control versus surrender that is resolved through a shared language that is both deeply personal and visually arresting.
